Court sides with BSNL on ending telegram services:
Madras High Court in India has dismissed two petitions that
sought to force the continuation of BSNL's telegram service. BSNL ceased
providing the service in July arguing that modern alternatives such as mobile
phones and e-mail are available now, the Business Standard reports. BSNL said it
incurred losses of INR 14.73 billion due to the steep drop in telegraph usage
since 2006. The court agreed with the company that several fast, economic, and
reliable alternatives are available and dismissed the two petitions
